Who, me?

TLDR; I'm an aspiring designer with a love of rock climbing, video gaming, dessert eating, snails (not to eat!), and all sorts of interesting things like...trying to find the perfect pen and sketchbook combo that is totally the only thing holding me back from leveling up my art skills 100x.

More In Depth-

I would separate this out into two paragraphs- me as a designer, and me outside of that, but I find that the two things are actually quite inseparable. I love curating Pinterest boards in my free time, which I then gravitate towards when I'm designing. I love exploring different color combinations, and bold fonts, and gradients. These things decorate the different rooms of my brain, and the different pages of my designs. I also love code, and I love figuring out how things work.

As a computer science major, I delve a lot into technical and rather dry subject matter. This can be pretty boring- but there's beauty in everything, even in networks and systems. Figuring out how things work is where my passion for learning in general began: I looked up to the stars and wanted to know how and why (which is why I started as a physics major, but I digress). Design is something that lets me harness the technical knowledge that I've earned over my degree, and also flex the creative muscles that I employed a lot in my youth (see the Art Gallery). It's the perfect combination of my most favored skills, and every day is a joy when I get to put something together and I'm able to say wow. Look at what I've done! (Even if it's not the prettiest or nicest, the simple act of creation is something that can't be beat).

Outside of all of that? I love video games, having gamed since I was a kid. The process of leveling up or problem solving or just plain teamwork and strategy has always captivated me, and in a nice full-circle moment, rounds out my design process pretty well. I'm a gamer. I want to have fun- and that includes when I'm designing. I love rock climbing (some might say too much), which is just video games but outside. Going up in V-grades and problem solving a boulder is just another form of design, and there are some gorgeously set boulders out there, despite the limitations in color palette.

All this to say, design has woven itself into every aspect of my life, and I'm positively positive that I could spend the rest of my life learning about it all- not just through work, internships, or professional projects, but through the very experience of living and existing in this wonderful, chaotic, colorful world.
